I mention this because throughout the day I heard several comments that were filled with anger and disgust toward the President. So, I ask you " How is it the President's fault that he was was awarded a prize?' This just struck me as extremely small-minded, petty, and angry to lash out at the President. I do understand people's anger, but I really feel that it needs to be directed at the right people. As a process person, it just seems the process is flawed because you are complaining about a problem/issue to an entity that has no control over the problem. This just seems to be the common way we do things in the world today or America. I am not sure if this is really the best process.
Now, I hope this doesn't ruffle any feathers or lead somebody to suggest that I don't love America. I love America, and I feel that it is my duty to point out something that looks wrong to me. I mean isn't that how this country got started, by calling out a flawed process and starting a new process. I don't know but it seems more important to me that we actually have a real conversation, figure out the 70% - 80% that we agree on, and then work to to COMPROMISE on a solution for that remaining <30%.
It just seemed like something that I needed to get off my chest.
Nite.
You know conflict is not always bad if it is for a good cause, especially if it is to help solve problems, different viewpoints help come to the best solution. But I don’t understand what people are arguing? The award was not for what he accomplished. As it was quoted by the committee, “Unlike his predecessors, Obama was selected NOT for substantive accomplishments, but for his "vision" and inspiring "hope" at the beginning of his presidency. "For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman," "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said
ReplyDeleteIs it not fair to the President of the United States to have respect he so rightly deserves for being recognized for this?
I can’t help but think of the coincidence that today was also John Lennon birthday and much of his music was on world peace, “Come together”, “Instant Karma,” and of course his beautiful song “Imagine”. Of course I had to play it and it made me cry. Why can’t we do that, everyone imagine? I think of all the people who cried with joy when Obama was elected. He touched a lot of human lives with “HOPE” including mine.
I believe he deserved the Noble PEACE prize too…
Thank you Thomas for posting this..
